With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Virginia S. Cody, who left this world on June 28, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on October 7, 1940, she lived a life marked by love, compassion, and a vibrant joy for the world around her.

Virginia’s legacy is deeply enshrined in her family, whose lives she touched with unwavering affection and guidance. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Raymond (Karen), and James (Shelly) Cody, Judy (Don) Morey, and Steven (Kristin) Cody. Each of them carries forward the lessons she imparted—kindness, resilience, and the ability to find joy in everyday moments.

Her love multiplied with each new generation. Virginia cherished her role as grandmother to Amanda (Justin) Geary, Kenneth, and Sarah Morey, Genevieve, and Brooke Cody, and as great-grandmother to little Jack. Her grandchildren and great-grandson brought special delight to her later years, their laughter and stories filling her home and heart.

Virginia was also the beloved daughter of Valentine and Jennie Sitarek, both of whom preceded her in death. The loving sister to Raymond Sitarek, who also passed before her, she cherished her childhood memories and the steadfast bonds of family that shaped her gentle spirit. Her heart found its greatest companion in her husband, Richard Cody, with whom she shared love and devotion with before his passing. Their partnership and enduring support for one another remain a testament to the power of unconditional love.

A woman of wide-ranging interests and boundless curiosity, Virginia spent her years traversing new places, seeking knowledge, and kindling a spirit of adventure wherever she went. She was happiest with a book in hand or packing for another journey—always eager to discover the untold stories of faraway cities or immerse herself in the pages of a new novel. Virginia was also very active within the Cheektowaga Senior Center Community. Yet, it was in the simple joys of spending time with her grandchildren that Virginia’s heart found its true home. Their laughter was her greatest music, and she reveled in every shared moment, nurturing them with her warmth, wisdom, and gentle guidance.

Virginia’s legacy is one of enduring love and vibrant memories—a life beautifully lived and dearly missed by all who knew her. Though she is now reunited with those she has longed for, she leaves behind a tapestry of cherished recollections that will continue to inspire and comfort those whose lives she touched.

As we bid farewell to Virginia Cody, we remember her quiet strength, her boundless kindness, and the light she brought into the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever linger in our hearts.

Memorial contributions can be made in Virginia's name to Hospice Foundation.
