CALDWELL, VALERIE M.
August 28, 2013; Loving mother of Christopher R. and Jon; dear sister of Wendy Caldwell Maloney and aunt of Colin Maloney; beloved niece of Marilyn G. McTaggart; cherished friend of Nancy Kaczmarek, GNSH, and Richelle Dubé. Beloved daughter of the late Rosemary; survived by her father, Perry. Val was a science teacher at the Buffalo Seminary, Director of Education at the Buffalo Museum of Science, and author of several children’s and young-adult books. She was a winner of the Milkweed Prize for Children’s Literature. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 14 at 10:30 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 724 Delaware Ave. Donations may be made in her memory to Smile Train ( http://www.smiletrain.org ), Milkweed Editions ( http://milkweed.org ), or the charity of your choice. Arrangements by MELVIN J. SLIWINSKI FUNERAL HOME.
