Roy Lindberg, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and esteemed veteran, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024, in Buffalo, New York. Born on October 31, 1944, Roy led a life marked by hard work, devotion to family and friends, and an unwavering pride in service to his Country.
Throughout his career, Roy exemplified a strong work ethic contributing his skills to various avenues of life, including positions at Hopes Windows and Blackstone Manufacturing. His colleagues respected him for his diligence and pride taken in every role he undertook.
A proud Veteran of the United States Navy, Roy served from 1961 to 1967. He was honored to receive the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal which reflected his commitment to his country and his bravery. His years serving aboard the U.S.S Somers with his crewmates provided Roy with treasured memories and experiences to last a lifetime.
Roy cherished his time spent with family and his many friends that became family, making lasting memories that his loved ones will carry with them forever. He enjoyed golf outings, a pastime that brought him great joy, laughter, and camaraderie. Mornings were particularly special to him; he loved starting his day in The Village Diner, The Bean, or The Marketside, where he found comfort in good coffee, good people, and engaging conversations. Roy had both an amazing sense of humor and willingness to help others, making certain he would always be there to lend a hand or a laugh to anyone in need.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Cheryl, who was his partner in life and shared many wonderful moments with him. He is also survived by his children: son Troy (Heather) Lindberg, daughters Monica (Jason) Keller, Lori (Steve) Bielecki, and Tammy Parks. Roy’s legacy continues through his grandchildren, Brandon, Bobby, Sam, Logan, Nicholas, Amanda, Emma, Hannah and Jarrett, and great-grandchildren Layla, Liam, Mia, and Maddy. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Mel and Mollie, as well as his sister Molly Ann (Bob) Willson and brothers, Melvin H. (Myrtle) and Robert H. (Linda).
Roy Lindberg will be deeply missed by all who knew him, remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the love he had for his family. Roy's was a life well lived, and he will forever serve as a reminder to not take life too seriously and enjoy every moment of it.
