Richard Brossard, age 82, passed away peacefully in Brunswick, GA, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Richard was born on December 4, 1942, in Buffalo, New York, the son of the late Louis Karl Brossard & Kathryn Emma Brossard.

Richard was the beloved husband to Recail (nee Milani) for 61 years, loving father to Darlene Warnke (Randy), Steven (Cathy) and Recail Deborah Armstrong (David). Proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren, Randal Thomas, Matthew, Jason, Christopher and Amanda as well as a great grandfather to Kaylee, Vincent, Sabastion. Charli Jane, Hudson and Henry Loving brother to the late Louis (Teresa), late David (Barbara), and Kathy (Doug).

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Richard was a graduate of Seneca Vocational High School where he became a Licensed Ham Radio Operator at the age of 18 on 7/24/1961 with the call sign of WA2BQL and later changed his call sign to W2RLB. He has been awarded many certificates for good Ham Radio operations while being fortunate enough to speak to many people all over the world including but not limited to China, Italy, France, Germany and Canada. In 2014 Richard was able to speak with the pilot of a B-17 "Flying Fortress" and was awarded a certificate for his participation in the event.

Richard met his "Bride" in 1963 and later married her in 1964 in Buffalo, N.Y. then they moved to West Valley, N.Y for a brief time. In 1967 they moved to Depew, N.Y where they have lived ever since.

Richard was employed at West Valley Phone Co. as a Lineman for 2 years from 1964-1966, then when he moved to Depew, N.Y. He started his career with New York Telephone Company from 1966 to 1984 when the company took on the name of NYNEX "Baby Bell" from 1984 to 1997 when they then became Bell Atlantic. Richard then retired in 1997, ending his 33-year career as a Telecommunications Engineer. He held may positions within the companies as a line man, Engineer, circuit designer & tester and a field Technician.

Richard has also dedicated his life to serving & protecting the citizens of Depew as a Charter member of the volunteer Fire Department with the Depew West End Hose Company #6 badge #605 from 4/15/1968 to present. He had 57 years of active service. In April of 2018 he was honored for 50 years of service, and on August 4, 2023, he was honored for 55 years of service as an active-duty fire fighter. Richard has held the offices of Captain, President, Council Delegate, & Safety Officer throughout his service and is a Life Member of the Depew Volunteer Fire Department. Among the many training courses and certificates, he held for different emergency situations are as follows - Emergency Response Railroad Incidents Ground Crew Safety Training - Emergency Response for Hazardous Material - Officer Training Course - Mercy Flight of Western New York ground Crew Safety He was also involved in designing and development of a new Fire engine pumper truck for the West End Hose Co. #6. Throughout his lifetime Richard was an avid Hunter, Camper and Boater and all-around outdoorsman. He also loved cars, especially his Blue 1987 T-top Oldsmobile 442 that he entered and competed in numerous car shows and won several trophies including 1st place in the Oldsmobile Nationals. He also enjoyed spending time with family at their cabin in Boliver, New York.

Following his retirement, Richard and Recail travelled all over the United States visiting National Monuments, Historical Sites, National Parks and just enjoying traveling with each other, Richard will be dearly missed by both family and friends: God Rest His Soul.

Relatives and friends may visit the NEW COMER CREMATIONS & FUNERALS, 5090 Transit Rd., Depew (near Como Park Blvd.) for a Memorial gathering on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 2:00-4:00PM.

Richard previously had calling hours on Monday, September 29, 2025 at the Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4407 U.S. Highway 17 North, Brunswick, GA for his family and friends in Georgia.
