Fr. Richard M. Poblocki, a beloved servant of God, gracefully departed from this world and entered into the glorious Kingdom of Heaven on June 29, 2025. He was the cherished son of the late Richard and Helen Poblocki, and a loving brother to Mark (Cheryl) Poblocki, Donna (Mike) Szczerbiak, Mike (Anthony) Poblocki, and Cheryl (Greg) Badding, as well as the late David Poblocki. As an adored uncle to Angela, Mark, Sharleen, Matt, Sara, Jude, and Eric, Fr. Rick made a profound impact on the lives of those he encountered, leaving an indelible mark even on those who were fortunate enough to know him only in spirit.
The Poblocki family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who supported Fr. Rick in various ways—through prayers, visits, thoughtful flowers, and masses offered in his honor. Special recognition is given to Dr. Ben Switzer of Roswell Park and the dedicated staff who provided exceptional care for Fr. Rick during his time of need. The kindness and compassion shown by the staff at Father Baker Manor also warrants sincere appreciation. Each gesture of love helped illuminate the path of Fr. Rick’s journey, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Fr. Rick has now found eternal peace, enfolded in the loving embrace of our Lord. As we remember his life, we honor his unwavering faith with the words, "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord." Friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, at St. Josaphat Roman Catholic Church (corner of Peoria and William Streets) in Cheektowaga, NY 14206. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Please assemble at church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you continue to hold Fr. Rick in your thoughts and prayers.
Fr. Rick’s journey towards the priesthood began with a sense of calling in the second grade, which reaffirmed itself during his high school years. After obtaining his degree in philosophy from Wadhams Hall Seminary College, he attended Christ the King Seminary and was ordained a priest on September 29, 1983. Throughout his illustrious ministry, Fr. Poblocki served faithfully as Parochial Vicar at St. Philip the Apostle and Resurrection Churches in Cheektowaga, as well as at Queen of Heaven in West Seneca, NY. In 1993, he was appointed Pastor of Sacred Heart in Portville and St. Mary’s in Bolivar, NY. Prior to his last role as Pastor of St. Josaphat, he dedicated himself to serving as Pastor of St. Hyacinth Church in Dunkirk, NY, and Queen of Peace Church in Buffalo, NY.
Fr. Richard M. Poblocki's legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all whose lives he touched. Rest in eternal peace, dear Father Rick; your presence will forever be felt in our hearts.
