In the quiet moments as the sun set on September 11, 2025, our beloved James D. Hehir departed from this world, leaving behind a legacy woven with love, laughter, and cherished memories. For 66 remarkable years, he stood side by side with his beloved wife, Kathleen (nee Connors), forging a bond that no one could break.
James was a devoted father whose heart held boundless affection for his daughters, Suzanne Hehir-Abramski, and the late Patricia (Geoffrey) Hicks, as well as for his late son, Michael (Dawn) Hehir. His role as a grandfather lit up his life – he delighted in every moment shared with his cherished grandchildren: Jacqueline (Ron), Joshua, Megan (Sean), Michael (Maria), Kaitlyn, and Emily. The joy of being a great-grandfather to Grace, Ronnie, Emilia, Jack, Teddy, Blake, and Connor added a golden sparkle to his days.
He was not only a father and grandfather but also a dear brother. His bonds with Mary Rose (the late Dr. Alvin) Russo and his late brothers, Dick (the late Rosemarie) Hehir and Thomas Hehir, were filled with love and camaraderie. James carried his family in his heart and was proud of the legacy he left, reflected in the lives of his nieces and nephews.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 3-7 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, located at 5090 Transit Rd, Depew, NY, where we will come together in honor of a life beautifully lived and to bid farewell to a truly special soul. The funeral services will take place at 7 PM that same evening.
We invite all who knew James to share their condolences and memories, celebrating the warmth and kindness he brought into this world. His spirit will remain an everlasting presence in our hearts.
