Genevieve A. Michel (née Wrigley), known as Jean, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, in Buffalo. Born on June 30, 1940, Genevieve lived a life marked by unwavering love and compassion, dedicating herself to the care of all, both human and furry alike. She possessed a nurturing spirit that extended beyond her family, evident in her fondness for feeding the neighborhood cats and squirrels, reflecting her gentle heart and profound empathy.
Jean shared a remarkable 65-year journey with her beloved husband, Gary. Together, they created a warm and loving home, instilling values of kindness and devotion in their three sons and daughters-in-law—Howard and Kolleen, Robert and Tracey, and Shawn and Maureen Michel. Genevieve's legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Howard Michel Jr., Justin Michel, Steven (Cathy) Michel, Thomas Michel, Sarah Michel, Emily Michel, and Madeline (Sam) Junkin. Each of them carries forward her spirit of love and togetherness, a testament to the bonds she nurtured throughout her life.
In addition to enjoying precious moments with her family, Jean found joy in spending time with those she loved, weaving memories filled with laughter and warmth. Her love extended to her sister-in-law, Nancy Wrigley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were touched by her kindness and spirit.
Jean is reunited in spirit with her parents, Kenneth and LaVera Wrigley (née Rudolph), and her siblings Donald, Robert, Kenneth, and LaVera (Ronald) Kopacz. Their collective memories form a cherished tapestry of family history, one in which Genevieve played a pivotal role.
