May 25, 2014 age 97 of Cheektowaga, NY. Beloved husband of the late Louise V. (Komorowski) Slon; dearest father of Judith Dzierba, Timothy E. Slon (Diane Bailey) and Kathy A. Fassl; dear grandfather of Amy, Ed (Stacey Prible), Brian (Cathy Powell), Emma, Kevin (Samantha) and Mae; great grandfather of Nevaeh and Caroline; predeceased by brothers and sisters; also survived by nieces and nephews. Family will be present to receive relatives and friends Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the MELVIN J. SLIWINSKI FUNERAL HOME 85 George Urban Blvd. (west of Harlem Rd.) where prayers will be said on Saturday at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Gualbert Church at 9:30 AM. Interment to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Mr. Slon was a veteran of WW II. Flowers gratefully declined memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
