On September 10, 2025, the world lost a radiant spirit when Dolores I. Turkasz (nee Gaczewski) departed at the age of 98, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories of Cheektowaga, NY. Born on December 21, 1926, to the late Esther and Casimer Gaczewski, Dolores filled the lives of those around her with kindness and warmth.

Dolores was the beloved wife of the late Aloisius "Al" Turkasz, with whom she celebrated a beautiful 76-year union. Together, they crafted a life filled with laughter and adventure, finding joy in every moment spent at home and at casinos, where luck was merely a backdrop to their precious companionship. Their bond was a true testament to enduring love and partnership.

As a loving mother, she nurtured her family with unwavering devotion. She is survived by her children: Dennis (Dotti), Linda (Hal) Keatting, and Kenneth (Mary), alongside the memories of her late son, Michael Turkasz. Her heart swelled with pride for her grandchildren—Amy, Erin (Michael) Castanza, Christopher (Alexandria) Turkasz, Rachel (Adam) Whelan, Neal (Sara), Alex (Ashley), Steven (Ashley), and Andrew (Ashley)—and her legacy continues through her 15 great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy.

Dolores was also a caring sister, remembered fondly by her siblings, including Eleanor (late Larry) Geercken and Betty (late Ray) Wanner, as well as her sisters-in-law and extended family, whose lives she touched with affection. Known affectionately as an aunt to many, her warmth and wisdom will ripple through generations.

For 73 years, Dolores was a devoted parishioner of the Infant of Prague RC Church, her faith grounding her in grace and purpose. As her family gathered, they are reminded of the strength and affection she instilled in them all. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Harris Hill Nursing Facility and Hospice Team 7 for their compassion and care during her final years.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday September 18 from 3-7 PM at the New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 5090 Transit Rd., Depew, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday September19 at 10:00 AM at Infant of Prague RC Church, where family and friends are invited to assemble.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Roswell Park Alliance and MD Anderson Cancer Center, honoring Dolores's memory in a way that reflects her caring spirit.

Dolores Turkasz will forever be remembered for her generosity, her joyful heart, and her unwavering faith—a beacon of light who leaves behind a lasting legacy of love.
