Father is one who wears off his shoes and shirt to buy beautiful dresses and shoes for his children. One famous saying, “ Dads are most ordinary men turned by love into heroes, adventure, storytellers and singer of song.” By Pam Brown
He was always with us when we needed!! He ignored his health, good food, and sound sleep to keep us healthy, put good food on the table and very importantly cares our future careers. Our best ever dad , Dhan Bahadur Sunwar, son of Bir Bahadur Sunwar was born in remote village in Nepal called Sindhupalchowk in 01/01/1948. He was abandoned by his father when he was only 6 years old with his four younger sisters. Later his mother followed his father and all 5 children ended up with no parental care. Dhan worked as potter at the age of 7 to feed his sister and himself. His childhood and teenage years were spent in hunger, starvation and poverty. He was a child laborer.
At the age of 12 or 15 he left his four sisters and travelled to Bhutan looking for his father and mother. Tall , good looking young man found job in Bhutan at construction company. He was hardworking, honest, and humble. He married to my mom Sukmati Sunwar who was Bhutanese citizen in his early 20 and made beautiful family. He and his wife received Lord Jesus Christ as their savior in 1981. He worked for Royal family, king and queens of Bhutan for more than two decades. Dhan and his wife Sukmati were evicted from Bhutan in 1993 with his beautiful wife, 5 sons and one daughter for being Christian. He and his family lived as refugees in Nepal for 16 years . Life was challenging , however he was a brave, hardworking father and he never let his family down . He worked as a construction worker in India to send his 5 sons to school. He helped his sons get good education. He never complained about his minor aches and pains , he worked hard for several years to keep his family together.
In June of 2008 , he his is family was resettled in Buffalo, New York, USA where they found a home in the beautiful. He was glad, and thank lord God for making his journey successful and blessed. Food was abundant, good house to live in and all his sons were employed. His heart was filled with joy and happiness. After two decades his health started deteriorating as a result of diabetes and hypertension. His cognitive and physical health decline when he lost his wife in April of 2021. He said , “ half of myself is buried with you my dear wife, keep room for me too”. He was moved to Harrisburg , PA with his three sons after he had a major stroke . He suffered major brain stroke and dementia for more than three years. February 17, 2025 he had a fall was admitted at Harrisburg hospital at intensive care unit and was under care for more thank two months. We all had hope of his recovery and returning home when he was moved to Select Therapy in York , PA. Unfortunately, he couldn’t make out of rehabilitation center and passed away in May 18, 2025, at 0030. God so loved him and couldn’t wait to give me eternal rest and peace for all pain, suffering and loneliness.
He was a brave, our hero , never complain about anything, instead spent his life working hard for his sons and grandchildren, He was a man of faith , loved Lord Jesus and remain always faithful in the word of God. He made several friends and neighbors to believe in Jesus . He has completed his race and now he is with our lord Jesus Christ in heaven . You are our angle, hero , friend and a great dad. We always miss you . With heavy heart , we all the sons, daughters and grandchildren saying good by dad and grandpa!! If there is a chance to be your son again , I will always love to be with you forever!!
