In loving memory of David Simmons, who passed away surrounded by the warmth of his family and friends. David leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was a devoted partner to Dawn Burke and a proud dog-father to his beloved companions, Sal and Quenton. David’s heart held a special place for Dawn’s daughter, Kylie.
David was not just a brother; he was a steadfast friend. He is survived by his brothers Tim (Rita), Danny, Paul (Michelle), and Irv (Denise Shorkey) Simmons, as well as his sisters Becky (Terry) Maxam and Teresa (John) Shorkey. His role as an uncle brought him great joy, as he doted on Adam (Rachael) Maxam, Jason, and Paul Simmons, along with Jenna (Jon) Bergman, Kendyl Maxam, Nick, Shelby, Andrea, Hannah, Haley, Chris (Abby) Simmons, and Matt Shorkey. David also held the title of great uncle to Chase and Charlotte, sharing his love across generations.
In addition to his parents, Irving and Helen Simmons, David is also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann.
A passionate volleyball player and a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills, David was the leader for tailgating on game days, where his infectious spirit and love for rock concerts and craft beers brought friends and family together. His extensive network of close friends and extended family is a testament to the warmth and kindness he shared with everyone he met.
Family and friends are invited to honor David’s life on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 1:00 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, located at 5090 Transit Road, Depew, NY 14043.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in David's name to the American Heart Association, continuing his spirit of generosity and love for life. David will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the joy he brought into the lives of those around him.
