With deep love and faith in God’s eternal promise, we announce the passing of Alene Helen Roll, who entered peacefully into eternal rest on April 22, 2026, at the age of 72.
Alene was born on November 12, 1953. She was preceded in death by her father, Alton Schoenthal; her mother, Allie Kaufmann; her stepfather, William A. Kaufmann; and her sister, Annie Sees.
A devoted Catholic, Alene lived her life grounded in faith, compassion, and service to others. She was an active member of The Ladies Guild of St. Gabriel’s, Lyme WNY, and Ladies of Charity, where she found purpose in supporting and uplifting those around her. Alene was also a proud registered nurse, dedicating her career to caring for others with kindness, strength, and compassion.
Throughout much of her life, Alene courageously battled Multiple Sclerosis with grace, resilience, and strength. Despite the many challenges the disease brought, she continued to live with determination, faith, and deep love for those around her.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Tom J. Roll (Stephanie), Chuk Roll (Rebecca), and John Roll (Marcia). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Tresa, Charley Alene, Etta, Jameson, and Ilah, each of whom brought immense happiness to her life.
Alene is also survived by her ex-husband and dear friend, Tom G. Roll; her siblings, William M. Kaufmann (Wanda), James J. Kaufmann (Corinne), and Mary Lou Ciprich (David); her brother-in-law, Ralph Sees; and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Alene also dearly loved her dogs, Allie, who preceded her in death, and her beloved Callie, who brought her comfort and companionship.
She found beauty and joy in life’s simple treasures. Alene loved flowers and gardening, and she had a deep appreciation for painting, quilting, and art in all its forms. Whether tending to her garden or admiring creativity and beauty around her, these passions reflected her gentle spirit and the warmth she shared with others.
Those who knew Alene will remember her for her loving heart, quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith. Her presence brought comfort, warmth, and kindness to those around her, and her memory will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
As a woman of deep faith, Alene found comfort in God’s love and the promise of everlasting life. May she now rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord.
